What are you currently watching on TV?

Da 5 Bloods

Late to the party as usual. Excellent film, edgy politically but not over the top. Also an interesting story. Does something I find lacking in many films, and that’s showing that not all African-Americans think the same or believe the same things…in this movie they have very divergent opinions on many different things. You don’t see that in films enough, they are often not three-dimensional in this way.

And yes, as a bonus we also get the signature “shhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeit” from Whitlock Jr.

On a more serious note, it was one of Bausman’s last roles. Hard to watch it knowing he’s gone.

Ted Lasso is back! I think it came out a day early, it was on Apple TV tonight when I got home from work. Now I'm going to have to lie to everyone about not watching it already at the premiere party. I thought it was a great first episode, won't say any more because no spoilers.

Also, the show Shrinking on Apple TV is incredible. Jason Segal and Harrison Ford as the main characters, unlikely pairing but it works great. Very funny but also real. Only like 7 or 8 episodes so far, so it's quick to catch up and worth it.

Apple TV and Amazon Prime both drop new episodes at 0:00 GMT, which means on Eastern Time Zone (-05:00) we get new episodes at 7:00 PM the evening before their listed release day.

Agree that Shrinking is an excellent show. Wife and I binged the first nine episodes tonight after I got home from work. Some of Harrison Ford’s best work.

Interesting, I just kept seeing the date after it was released but yeah the new Shrinking just came out tonight and it said Friday, so that makes sense. Might have to readjust our Ted Lasso watch to Tuesday night then.

And definitely on Shrinking, incredible show and Harrison Ford steals the show for me, though there's plenty else to like. I'll keep my Apple TV, it's worth the $6 a month to have those shows. Might sound weird, but I want to adopt him as my grandpa and want nothing bad to happen to him.

After the recommendation of a few buddies and a podcast I listen to I started Firefly last night:

It's over 20 years old, but people still rave about it and apparently the intense fandom post cancellation helped generate funding for a movie. Anxious to see what all the fuss is about.

Shrinking season finale was incredible, but lots of waterworks involved so get ready to bring the tissues if you are watching it. So worth it though, definitely my favorite new show to come out.

Also started watching Succession and it is phenomenal so far.
