Well elliemae is back!

elliemae

steeler-buckeye fan
I took a spill down 2 steps ,my slipper slipped on a plastic bag intended for the garbage can that had old magazines in it.
I managed as I fell down those 2 steps to break 3 bones in my left ankle & severly dislocated it.
I now have plates & screws holding it together now. I guess surgery went well. I don't remember a thing. Just being wheeled into the O.R. room & then next thing I remember was my friend talking to me in recovery, she is a nurse there.
My ankle was so deformed I do not know how I didn't pass out. I had to call my boss to get me to the hospital.
They gave me 8 mg. of morphine & tried the 2nd time to pop it into place but no success! That is the WORST PAIN I HAVE EVER BEEN IN AS OF YET!:(
Then they wanted to do surgery right away due to my skin being compromised by the fracture & dislocation.
This will take 6~8 weeks to mend.
I am home taking care of myself,so far so good! It is difficult but I will manage. Us Buckeyes are tough!!!

Pics?

Can you play roller hockey?

I could! I've taken spills down more steps than this & been tossed off of my fair share of horses but this was gross!
No pictures I wish I had though. I just gone done shooting my friends concert at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh that night & Monday & downloaded about 800 pictures. I'll try to get an X~Ray copy though. I want one. This is the kind of $hit you see on T.V.. All the X~Ray techs & doctors were amazed how bad it was. Oh well time to take my percocet.

Damn what a business - Take good care of yourself. Though, if you laid up for 6-8 weeks then look at the bright side, there is a lot of college football coming up on the tube with all those bowl games.

Get to take some good meds home?

Percocet!
They gave me 2 rounds of Morphine when I got there.WOW MAN!:groove:
Then after surgery I would get a shot of Demoral & then followed by 2 percocets every few hours! They just took turns with the drugs! :biggrin:I was pretty well buzzed in there let me tell you,but I could still feel the pain.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. A dislocation is more painful than a break!
Your ankle is a mess, be glad your not a horse.
But, you will recover.
Remember this is just a temporary situation and things will change for the better!
And your hands are fine so you can still type and let us all know how your progressing.
Take it slow on that ankle and when Spring comes around you'll be able to get your ass outside and get that whole body back into shape! :tongue2:
Should I send you some fruitcake?

Yeah if I was a horse I'd tomorrows dinner for somebodys pet! Although Ohio State saved my horse Sonny 10 years ago from a much easier fracture! It was a fractured splint bone.
I even still have my good foot for driving! HEH!
Oh when they tried to put my ankle in place again after it went out again they stopped & said we cannot put her through this pain,we will fix it in surgery!
I am building upper arm strength & stomach muscles with using these crutches & how I lift myself up from laying down, wow!
As for the fruitcake save it for next years scUM game & throw it at a fan!

When I dislocated my shoulder(not like Peach) they were going to reset it by taping a scale weight(10lbs) to it to pop it back in! Yikes!
Luckily, they didn't get the chance as after a morphine shot it popped back in!
But, boy! Did that ever hurt! Worse pain ever!
Get well!

I never knew there was such a pain!:yow1:
It did pop in place but as they were waiting for the splint cast to harden it come back out,
I felt it go back in. Then the x ray revealed it was out again. They gave me more morphine & it would not go & I was in way too much pain for them to keep going, they said they knew it was too much for me to endure & they would do it in surgery.
On a scale of 1 to 10 it was 12 & I am not being over dramatic on that one.
I never hope to experience that pain again nor wish that pain on anyone.
