Weekly Trivia 2011 - won by gracelhink

Gary Cairns

BB73 - incorrect, please wait 3 minutes before attempting to answer the same question.

EDIT - That is also a correct answer, but it's not the one I was looking for. We'll keep going, and both answers will be considered correct.

Dick Van Raaphorst

Correct. DIck Van Raaphorst, with a 48-yarder against Indiana in 1963, is correct. The previous record was a 47-yarder in 1961 by Wisconsin's Jim Bakken (who had a long NFL career with the St. Louis Cardinals). Van Raaphorst was drafted by the Browns in 1964, but played that year for the Cowboys, and also played a couple of years with the San Diego Chargers before the NFL-AFL merger.

Gary Cairns of the Buckeyes also broke the Big Ten record at Illinois in 1966, by kicking a 55-yarder.

That marks the end of this year's contest.

CONGRATS to gracelhink, who receives v$500,000 as the winner of the 2011 BP Trivia Contest.

I can't believe I missed that answer, I actually sit in Gary's seat at the Stadium once each year. My humble apologies to his sister who shares his tickets with me.
BB73, Thank you for a masterful contest, but you have just got to stop throwing your v-cash away on these trivia contests, some of us set odds for the days when you become the first trillionaire on the planet.
One other peice of trivia, this year I made a wrong guess 118 times to a trivia question. Spent/wasted over 5 hours in the penalty box in three minute increments, time I will never get back in my life but loved each moment of the sin bin.
Special shout out to TDunk who finished strong! I am putting my v cash on him next year, hes a slam tdunk.

sorry for bumping this, but just wanted to say congrats to gracelhink, he's a tough one to beat (there was a couple he beat me by 2 seconds on, grrr), i was late to this party and then couldn't participate the last few weeks which sucked

thanks BB73 for putting this on, it's a lot of fun learning these trivia answers
