Week 8 CFB Open Thread

Just thinking about this a little more... DK just set themselves a precedent, any controversial finish are they going to refund money as site credits? They just opened themselves up a whole giant can of worms. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get sued by someone who says it was a controversial finish and they want their bet not counted.... Liability wise this seems like a stupid move
The new wave of legal online/mobile sportsbooks are all doing this. FanDuel has had some “bad beat” refunds as well for bad/controversial calls. It’s a goodwill story to draw in more customers, while also knowing gamblers will just lose the site-credit (usually requires betting 1 or 2x the amount before you can withdraw - good luck to most public bettors/joe schmoe doing that).

Net-net, gaining publicity and probably still making the money down the road, I don’t think they’re too hard pressed by these moves. Now I wish this was available when I was going offshore bookie, because I have a laundry list of bad outcomes I’d like back.

Definitely see you’re point of opening the can of worms.

thing about it is... what about those folks who lost money on the Ark Barn game where they came out and said it was a screw up... they didn’t refund those... I get it from a PR stand point but i think you open yourself up for way to much by doing this seemly randomly... I could see having a once a quarter “bad beat” where you get to request it for a site credit ...

One thing to consider is that the limits at most online books are so small it wouldn't be financially viable to try and sue the book. I see your point on the potential risk but I think the nature of the business, and the clients, makes it a pretty low probability outcome from the books perspective.

If it’s Clemson/tOSU welcome back SEC officials

God no I'd take Big 12 or even probably Pac12 over those fuckers

I'd take these guys over SEC officials:
