I don't know what targeting is anymore, but we've definitely had innocuous "helmet" targeting calls. And that looked helmet-to-helmet. Not shoulder like Wade.
That to me looks like the kind of tackle this penalty was made to get rid of.

He certainly hasn't shown much to indicate otherwise.
I know Freeman was well regarded, but a program of ND's stature hiring a 36 year old with zero HC experience seemed like a tremendous reach from the start. I know they were blindsided by Kelly bolting, but they just rushed right into hiring Freeman...probably because they didn't want him to walk if they shopped around. Whoopsies.

Offensive pass interference not called. They are constantly holding and blocking early on the edges. I guess that's Riley's style of Offense.

After watching four of the other top quarterbacks in college football today, I have come to the unassailable conclusion that we have the best one. There is no doubt in my mind CJ does throw the best ball in the college game today.
