Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
He really did "intentionally ground" it; however, he just spiked it short of an eligible receiver so it wasn't called. Not surprisingly, the Iowa coach thought it should have been called.

If he's lucky they'll say his hand was out of bounds first. Otherwise it's a touchback and Iowa ball.
