Week 7 Game Discussion Thread

Methinks that this morning there is a lot of unwarranted hate directed towards Gus Johnson. Yes, the FG call was bad as from his vantage point in the booth he should be able to tell that the kick could be short. but since FGs are difficult to see in a stadium, he was probably using a TV monitor.

The "TD...no!" call was perfectly understandable. Nobody would think the WR would screw it up that badly and he was so excited that IU was going to pull another rabbit out of the hat. Don't blame him at all.

Compare that to the performance of Fowler and Emotional Support Dog. They didn't even notice that there should have been a second left in the game. Instead whining about the PI call which wasn't that bad. I'm fine with swallowing the whistle. He committed PI just as badly as Sharpe did on Gamblor back in 2003. Yeah, that shouldn't have been called either, but tOSU should have won that game in regulation if it wasn't for the refs.

All the tv announcers suck.

Production of the games (including commercials) is far and away the worst part of the sport.

People who would be these full time refs will do other work for more than 50k instead of being a ref for 50k.

Talent follows money in all walks of life.
There would obviously be other benefits and that's just a number. The actual dollar amount out there available from NCAA Football is probably a lot more than I even imagined. Pay em. Train em and make em all accountable.

Exactly.

Pay them well enough that they will miss the money if they lose it for sucking ass at what you pay them to do.

Also, improve the use of technology even more. Totally reimagine what can and can’t be reviewed. Take as much out of the humans hands as you can.

It is playing out like that year so far. I will go out on a limb and say that some of the officiating I’ve seen this year in multiple games gives me reason to believe the NCAA is scripting situations to justify the 24 team CFB playoff format.
Wasn't being ranked #1 the kiss of death that year? IIRC correctly, every time a team made it to #1 they lost the next week. Happened to the Bucks. Made it to #1 then lost to Illinois. ( Yeah, Fuck you Juice Williams )

technology already exist for the stupid out of bounds, first down etc etc … .most of it is in Futbol. did he step out … again easily solved with technology the problem is they haven’t figured out how to monetize it, “the out of bounds sensors brought to you by Bobbys Strip club, where nothing is out of bounds” and there’s a lack of money and will power to do something else… also … can we get rid of the “breaks the plane“ BS … the whole ball need to cross full stop… none of this well a tiny piece of the ball tipped over this white blade of fake grass so its a TD

Right?

PI, holding and targeting....they can't get these right half the time. Maybe less.

Go home humans, you have created the need for AI to take over.
