Week 5 Games Discussion

Just sayin': I think scUM will be in for a "buzz saw" at Camp Randal Stadium this Saturday.

1) Cheese has to be pissed with how they played at the end the ND game.
2) Cheese knows they are still in the B1G West even with 1 loss (Ped State). They still have everyone in the B1G West to play and beatting them gives Cheese the tie breaker even if both teams end up with 1 B1G loss.
3) Cheese is actually a 1 point favorite per: https://www.oddsshark.com/ncaaf/michigan-wisconsin-odds-october-2-2021-1392141 and https://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/teams/team-page.cfm/team/wisconsin-madison
4) They should be confident, Rutgers just showed them that scUM really isn't all that good.
5) It's Barry Alverez Day.

I like the analysis, but... Wisky doesn't have a QB - yeah, but they've won plenty of games without one in the past - but that's because they've had Ron Dayne, Monte Ball, Melvin Gordon, Johnathon Taylor, to carry the load, they don't have a running back to offset the lack of a QB - but they have a solid defense - solid defense doesn't help when you're QB is the other team's MVP, dropping hand offs, throwing pic sixes -

In short, this Wisky team is nowhere near to the great teams of the last two decades. The problems they have to fix are too big to be mended during the middle of the season. I don't think I've ever seen a QB with the potential of Mertz unravel so completely in the space of one season. I don't think Michigan is going to be stopped until they have to visit Happy Valley.

Re: No. 1 Alabama (Nick Saban) vs. No. 12 Ole Miss (Lane Kiffin) | 1:30 p.m. | CBS

You know about Nick Saban's perfect record vs. his assistants, but these 5 stats are absurd

Whether Jimbo Fisher beats Nick Saban’s, um, “rear end” or not, what cannot be taken away from the Alabama coach is the decade he spent beating his disciples like a drum.

In football, not golf.

Fisher’s jab was lofty when you consider that Saban is now 23-0 against his former assistants. That includes 4 wins against Fisher (3 at A&M, 1 at Florida State), all of which were by at least 3 scores. In the last 3 seasons alone, Saban is 11-0 against his former assistants. That’s nearly half of that unblemished record at Alabama against coaches who worked under him.

Every year, we write the article “which Saban disciple has the best chance of being the first to beat the master,” yet really, so few people have even sniffed that possibility. Some day, maybe it’ll happen.

1. Only 2 of the 23 games (8.7%) stayed within 13 points

1A. Saban won those 23 games by an average of 25.3 points

2. More than half of those games were vs. ranked teams

3. In those 1,380 minutes of football (excluding OT) Alabama trailed for 160 minutes and 51 seconds … but wait! There’s more!

4. In terms of Alabama’s time spent trailing in those games (160 minutes and 51 seconds), Kirby Smart accounted for …

5. Since the start of 2018, Saban’s teams averaged 47.9 points per game vs. his assistants

Entire article: https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/a...record-vs-assistants-5-stats-are-absurd-2021/

Just sayin': Ole Miss (+14½) has the "September leader" for the Heisman at QB, if he gets hot maybe he can break that streak with a win for Joey Freshwater.

That was the game I almost picked but didn’t in the upset contest. That bodes well for the fightin’ freshwaters
