Week 1 Games Discussion

So Duke beats Clemson by 21 in the only game either team has played.

Are we sure that Duke will be ranked ahead of Clemson in tomorrow’s polls?

I wouldn’t bet the mortgage on it.

I don’t think enough other ranked teams lost for them to make the climb. I feel like it would be fair to at least put them in the low 20s or even high teens.

I’m kind of shocked that actually happen. I basically threw it as white noise while prepping a small presentation for work and then I basically stopped working and told myself I would go into office early to knock it out and I have every right to procrastinate in the name of week 1.

I’m fine with Duke being #19 and Clemson #20, or something like that. But to use the logic of “I’ll drop Clemson about 8 spots cause they lost, and just put Duke into the top-25, leaving Clemson at #17 and making Duke #23, or anything similar, is simply ridiculous. Pollsters need to forget about preseason rankings once they‘ve got an actual head-to-head result, especially a 21-point margin.
