But the clock was at zero when he touched it, before the ball went to the ground.

and why is it "when it touched the player" and not "when the play goes down" Player was in the air even when he touched it, and the ball isn't dead until he lands or it lands on every other play in the history of every play ever. That apparently the player touched it with 1 sec left and he was out of bounds so therefore the clock stops. Except the clock was zero before he touched it... but whatever. Michigan clocks seem to work differently.
