Many talking heads will say that the USA needs to win this game to advance. But all the USA needs is a win and a draw in their two remaining games (although 1 scenario requires the USA to score 2 goals against Algeria to win the tiebreaker).

The World Cup is a tournament founded on the celebration of sport and the acceptance of people from other cultures and other nations.

As many BP'ers have come to note - there really isn't anybody on this board who is more accepting of other cultures than I am. So I've decided to create this little primer to help us learn a little bit more about Slovenia! :)

Getting to know Slovenia:

As is common knowledge - Slovenia is a nation with a storied history. The Nation was founded in 1918 after the dissolution of the Austrian-Hungary state. The nation based its government and guiding principles on a outward love of communism, homosexuality and profound distrust of adorable puppies.

Puppies are heavily regulated in the capital of Slovenia (SlovenTown)

Outside of sport - Slovenian's tend to keep enjoy a myriad of forms of entertainment. Interestingly enough, they tend to be segregated by gender.

Slovenian women are best known for their keen sense of humor, robust national pride and their ability to gain and retain weight at an astonishing rate.

Slovenian men are traditionally the breadwinners of the family. Typically working between 25-30 hours a week and spending the bulk of their free time engaged in playful behavior with their friends while wearing tight pants.

It's party time in Slovenia!

Slovenian fare tends to mirror the country itself. Diverse, broad ranging and not at all strange or disturbing. A traditional slovenian dinner might consist of bitter cheese, semi-cooked lamb meat, pungent local fish and onions.

Delicious!

Clearly there is much we can learn from our Slovenian friends! Let's have a great match and wish them all well!

Ugh - I've had ESPN3 on in my office for most of the tournament, but during this match I'll have work to do where I can't even pay attention to the commentary in the background. Fortunately I can take the afternoon off, so I'll be able to leave and watch it on the DVR over the break between the US match and the later England match. It's going to suck not knowing what's going on.

Torres in for Clark today, presumably to push the offense into a Slovenian defense that is going to force us to attack, already having 3 points in the standings.

Fine with me. Clark was not impressive versus England.
