Starting on Saturday in the round of 16, there are no more draws.

After two 45-minute halves, teams will now play two 15-minute overtime periods. It's NOT sudden-death (i.e., there is no 'golden goal'), so after a score in OT a team must hold the lead until the end of the second OT. If a game is still tied after that, a shootout takes place; with each team alternately taking 5 penalty kicks (PKs) from the 12-yard spot in the box against the goalkeeper. If it's still tied after 5 rounds of PKs, then each round of PKs is sudden-death after that, until one team scores in a round and the other team doesn't.

Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles,
Uber alles in der welt
Wenn es stets zu Schutz und Trutze
Bruderlich zusammenhalt
Von der Maas bis an die Memel
Von der Etsch bis an den Belt
Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles
Uber alles in der welt

ADOPT LIMITED VIDEO REPLAY!

I would hate to see the game slowed, but I can see two applications:

1. Have a sideline camera and give an official in the booth 5 seconds to reverse (not stop play for review) a missed call on a goal as just happened.

2. After the match review all the "injuries" and issue yellow or red cards for flops as appropriate. Of course, these could only apply to the next match in non-final rounds of a tournament or league play.

Rooney must be, by far, the most disappointing player in the World Cup. He has not shown up at all. England got itself into this situation by not winning the group. Win the group, play Ghana then Uruguay, finish second and get creamed by Germany.

Totally agree with this. As sad as it is, you can't review "judgment calls" like the one that cost the US a goal against Slovenia anymore than you can review holding calls in football.

I think what you allude to in your second point is absolutely necessary if FIFA is serious about cleaning up the flopping in the game and issuing cards for it. Apparently, it is just too difficult for the ref on the field to make those determinations in real time, because the flopping is worse than ever, without cards being awarded 95% of the time, despite FIFA's supposed directive to refs to card accordingly.

And I think your first point is right on as well. No need to stop play at all in situations like the one that transpired on the pitch today: have a ref in the booth that has constant access to a goal line camera; connect the booth to the on-field official by virtue of an earpiece; let them communicate. It would be almost instantaneous and there would be no need to interrupt the flow of play at all.
