WC Final - Spain vs Netherlands (Sun 2:30 ET, ABC)

No bigger douchebags in world soccer than Xavi, Iniesta, and Sergio Biscuits. Can't [censored]ing stand Spain.
I was rooting for the Dutch until they started playing like thugs the whole damn game. Whiney thugs at that.

Sort of a disappointing end to the most exciting World Cup (by that I mean the most excitement I've seen in the U.S.) in my lifetime.

My alternative: Just award the goal, as they do in rugby.

That would be OK with me, but I don't think FIFA would ever do that, which is why I'm suggesting the alternative that might be acceptable to them.

I just finished watching this turd of a match on my DVR.

I'll preface the rest of this by saying that I was rooting for the Dutch. I think this was a dirty match. DeJong's karate kick to the chest was despicable and should've been an instant red card. On the other hand though, I think it was Spain that played more cynically. The Netherlands had the reputation for embellishment, but the Spanish players spent a ridiculous amount of time rolling around on the ground. Spain could've won the damn thing in regulation (and spared us the agony of an extra 30 minutes), but it seemed like their strategy was to get somebody from the opposing side sent off, and THEN try to win it. Spain are too good of a side to play like they need to be up a man to have a chance.

For me, this game was a tremendous disappointment. Both sides were ill-disciplined and the ref lost control of the game. Its ending, with the Dutch deprived of a corner kick they deserved that following Spanish goal and the Dutch players dropping f-bombs on the ref, was a tiring and sad affair after four hours of viewing.

It was great to see Madiba wheeled out but sad also to see how feeble he has become. When he passes there will be great sadness here.

So, I will hang on to the beautiful game between Spain and Germany as the highlight of this WC.
