If the Slovenians were talking shit before our game, imagine what they'll be saying now that all they need is a draw to potentially knock England out of the thing completely...

McManamus is the Trev Alberts of soccer.

The US are a "poor team" (no disrespect)?! What does that make your countrymen?

He's the mental cripple that predicted a 3-1 England victory in the first game and laughed on air when the other dude even considered it would be a draw. He's just on TV to get some Brits to watch it.

It looks like Rooney is going to have to play the first role (guy in a trailer) in this nike commercial after his disappearing act so far in the WC.

FIFA needs an instant replay official in the box. The result of the USA game simply is unacceptable. I attended England Algeria and had a great time. Scoreless draws aren't exactly it, but the hospitality suites are excellent and the stadium is just stunning. I never thought I'd say that the Newlands rugby stadium should be closed in favor of Greenpoint, but I would now. It is just a stunning stadium. Being small (66k seating capacity, you really get the feeling that you are right on the field.

Some observations from the game:

The English travel very well. They had banners up and took over the Victoria & Alfred Mall the entire day. When I walked past them singing "Britannia rules the waves" the third time, I realized that they may be the most delusional fans around as well.

After the USA game, I had a problem with them singing "bye-bye, Miss American Pie". So, I went to the game wishing for a goalless draw! That and Ernie Els doing well in the Open balanced out the robbery by the Malian official.

At the venue, they had banners--usually a Queen-size bedsheet embellished as an English flag with the name of their group of people or town on it--around all levels of the Greenpoint Stadium.

Algeria looked much better than I expected. Good passing and defense. They got the ball out to the wings like I wish South Africa had. I was with a former German pro who concluded that they will give USA fits.

You may read that a fan managed to make it through security and confront them in the locker room. The English fans were absolutely and positively gutted. Still a nice vibe after the game. Algerian and UK fans singing. Britannia still ruled the waves. Oh well!

Go USA!

So... how long has it been since you've had an encounter with a Michigan fan?

I'm accepting donations for the "I bet my v-cash on the US and got boned over by a crappy ref" fund

Maybe you can earn it back.

Assuming they decide to let the "ref" officiate more games, maybe we could have a v-bet on his performance: number of bad calls, goals scored that he will invalidate by calling a phantom penalty, etc. Could be lucrative.
