Watch the Buckeyes play, do business with the devil?

OK. I did it. Although I have an awful sense of dread and suspect that the two Buckeye games on their front page will be the only Buckeye games they show, I am gonna watch the Buckeyes. I have to admit, just saying that almost brings me to tears. Go ahead Thump, let it rip!:!
Homo. (Thump was too slow)

Please note that this ESPN-waiver only applies to those living on continents besides North America. Enjoy the games, Steve!

So it seems the only thing that could keep Steve19 from supporting his Buckeyes... is supporting his Buckeyes.

:)

Enjoy the games with a clear conscience. Hope you can get all of them, one way or another.

I hate my position on all this:

I will get, probably, most the ABC games in NY as the Big Ten is the closest meaningful conference to the Northeast in appeal/location (I guess ACC is closer-- but it is a different citizenship, more midwesterners here or something).

So I may not get, say, half the games.

But- stupid weird stations here usually show a couple more (like the Mets channel or the Yankees channel or Fox Sports Atlantic/Pacific/etc., and weird NY sports channels).

Point is: I may get half or all, and I don't know until gameday. One year I got them all. . .

What the fuck should I do? (other than shut up already :) )

I am thinking of buying gameplan. (oh yeah, and no ESPNU here).

Shut up already.

Your other option is sports bars. I usually get all but 2 of the Buckeye games, and I go to a sports bar with dozens of TVs to watch multiple games at once.

By doing this I'm subsidizing drinking more than ESPN.

A friend just alerted me to the fact that ESPiN is showing at least two Ohio State games on the Internet. I looked and it is true. Access costs $99 for the season and the first and third games of the season, at least, are shown.

I don't know what to do. I know that you guys stateside have no problem with watching the game on ESPiN, but it somehow seems wrong to pay them anything for anything. On the other hand, I want to see the Buckeyes really badly.

The special price ends on 2 September.

So, what should I do guys?
Am I correct that DVD's from the states will actually play anywhere if correctly written? - -someone who rated themselves geek of the century can answer this :wink2:

My thinking is this - make an arrangement for an individual to get the games down onto DVD or a full game PVR MPEG file. Set it up to pull the DVD or file on one of the full game downloads. Play it on your computer (or burn your own and play on your set). Lag time 24-36 hours.

End of problem. Course, you will be seeing what you have read about, but that is surely better than not seeing at all.

If this too technically challenging I can think of someone (like me) capable of making extra DVD's - but that means shipping over to Afrique or wherever you are located these days. Which adds days to the journey - and you will have a much greater delay between game and viewing.

well, even though i live here in Vegas, we get the Miami OH game the Texas game and The Game here on the local ABC affiliate... additionally, we get the Penn State game, and whatever other games ESPN picks up so at MOST i'll have to pay for 6 games, but that's unlikely... so it's cheaper for me to just buy the one day PPV sports package rather than the whole season...

or, you could do what everyone else said:
go to a sports bar...

i'll probably spend an inordinate amount of time in the Green Valley Ranch Sports Book this year...
