I guess he is not going to be joining the OSU staff. He will now be the QB Coach and Passing Game Coordinator. Quite an interesting transition for him.

I agree. Getting his mind into the move will be the challenge. The MAC is a big step down from Big Ten, HC at Pittsburgh, and then the PAC-10, especially when you are not even the head coach and you didn't exactly cover yourself with glory in the PAC-10. Some people experience these ego challenges in life and really excel, others don't. I hope he is the former kind of coach and we hear about him doing positive things and getting new challenges in the future.

IMO this is absolutely the BEST position for him... albeit it is Akron... which is not nirvana... but this specific coaching position is what he does best
