I'm surprised so many of you liked this movie. I haven't seen it, but from everything I've heard, it's more a story about Cash and his wife (love story) than a biography of Cash's life. I haven't heard a good thing about the movie from anyone except here.

Bingo. The only reason to see it is if you like JC's music, because that's the only worthwhile part. Jouquain Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon do a great job on vocals, but other than that, a highly overrated movie. And I'm a JC fan.

I don't know who you've been talking to then.

My wife who didn't even know what the movie was about when she went with a friend to see it and who falls asleep at nearly every movie said it was one of the best movies she's seen.

I've never heard my wife rave about a movie like this one.

I'm yet to see it put will probably rent it when it comes out on DVD.

Yeah there was the story with his wife but I thought there was some biographical info. as well.

I think you hit it on the head, I don't think this movie was geared towards die-hard Cash fans but rather just fringe music fans.

I would tend to agree. It was more of a love story, showing how the relationship grew and what it became in the end. Based on the movie, if most of it is true and since JC had a good look at most of the script before he died, I would guess it would be easy to say JC would have died at a very young age if not for June Carter Cash. I truely found the movie amazing, and you just have to wonder what it must have been like to be on that tour with cash, jerry lee lewis and elvis.

Thanks for reinforcing my point, Thumpers. From what I've heard, it's a chick flick, and I've heard that from a lot of sources. I think I'll pass. I'd rather watch Willow or Princess Bride again.

it was a good movie. id watch it again. im not a big johnny cash fan, but i did see him play the oprey once with an old gf and her parents. we were headed down south and they were returning from fl and took us. the movie in the voice is better than cashs voice. although that old raspy hard sound is what made him famous...
