After 5 years in Tallahassee, I finally made it to an FSU game today. As I was at the OU game in the 'Shoe 2 weeks ago, the recent memory made for a good comparison.
I drank 2 beers on the way from the car to the stadium. You can walk right up to the stadium with a beer in your hand, and a lot of people do.
There is about 1/10th the police presence as at an OSU game.
Contrary to popular belief, the women in Columbus 2 weeks ago were just as hot as the women at Doak Campbell. But they were wearing more...
The drunk guys behind us acted like they'd never seen a woman before when a hot blonde showed up. One of them mumbled something like "where've YOU been for the last 20 years?". The hot blonde proceeded to give me the food she was carrying and sat down next to me (sometime later the drunk guys figured out it was my wife).
From then on the drunk guys referred to my wife as "hot dog girl" (because of the food she delivered to me when she showed up) and insisted that she was a good luck charm (as she sat there and traded text messages with our baby-sitter and ignored the game).
While it was shameful to see the 'Shoe not sold out today, Joke Soup (Doak Campbell) was even less sold out.
I had seats at the 23rd row on the 47 yard line. Friends of ours were able to sit next to us even though there seats were supposedly 2 sections away.
Two weeks ago, as I sat in the south stands with my brother before the kickoff at the Ohio U game, I turned to him and said, "Does the team look flat to you today?" Conversely, today I turned to a friend of mine and said something a lot like what OB stated above:

I'm loving the aggressiveness of FSU's D. I'd like to see some of that here.
What with all of the player's back from suspension, FSU's players were really jacked up prior to the game. They were jumping up and down with their helmets in the air as the mascot rode out to plant the spear. This made the horse skittish, and the rider had to make three passes to get the spear into the ground without hurting someone (or the horse).
That bit was kinda cool, but I laughed out loud when it was introduced as "the greatest tradition in college football". The warchant was cool to see in person. If you're wondering if I participated in it, you don't know me very well (hell no).
The rows are almost twice as close together as in the 'Shoe. While this does pack a lot of people into a small area, making it louder and ensuring that no one is very far from the field; it also makes for a much less visually imposing structure. The place is tiny compared to the 'Shoe.
The guy next to me at one point said almost exactly what Jake posted above:

Wake has blown numerous chances and only leads 9-3. They're one play away from losing a game they should have well in hand by now.
But the truth was, FSU never appeared to be in danger of stumbling into the red-zone, much less the end-zone. Tressel ball would have had that game in the bag by the end of the 3rd quarter at the latest.
FSU's offense was the most inept thing I've ever seen. Most of the OL was involved in the suspensions, so this was the first game for the unit for all practical purposes. They shook off quite a bit of the rust after half-time; but they were never in any real danger of mounting a sustained drive.
