So there's a band called Creaky Boards claiming that Coldplay's singer, Chris Martin, was at one of their shows and stole the main melody to the Coldplay song Viva La Vida. Sounds similar for sure.. whether or not it was copied, I do not know. Wonder what would happen if it was somehow proven that Chris Martin did steal it? That's nearly impossible to do, but it would be interesting.

The unknown band had written the song before Coldplay had written Viva La Vida.

I just think it sounds similar. I've written guitar riffs and had people say "That sounds like _____." and I scrap it. That stuff just happens. I thought it was an interesting story though, since it's actually getting publicity and this is a very well-known, current song.

Ohh I know the song, I have it on my computer. I know what you're saying about it sounding a like. Sure I agree with you but to say that the song is copied is pretty absurd. Many songs sound a like, that doesn't mean that one artist copied it from another. But I won't argue about them sounding a like.

The song that was "supposedly" copied sucks, IMO.

If the guy wants to continue to claim that Coldplay did copy him, does that mean that his shitty little band is also ripping off U2, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, etc.?

Dave Wannstedt is about to release a YouTube video about how this clown has copied his mustache.

Sounds like a band trying to ride some coattails to make a quick buck. Losers.

There are plenty of cases of artists having to pay royalties for knowingly or unknowingly publishing a song that sounds like one that has already been published. Sometimes a band writes a melody that they think is good because even though they think it's new it sounds "familiar" only to find out that there's a reason it's familiar. I know for instance that the Flaming Lips pay royalties to Cat Stevens over the melody to the song "Fight Test".
