Vista (64-bit) SP2 Installation Problem

I figured I would come to you guys and ask for assistance while I wait for a response from MS.

I installed the SP2 on my wife's lap top tonight. It installed everything, and then restarted. After the restart, all that I am getting is a black screen with the mouse arrow. The arrow moves, but nothing else happens. I restarted the computer, and it's now been sitting for 30+ minutes without a change.

Any help?

I've just tried to restart and boot in Safe Mode. It's up to LOADED: \Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisc.sys, and it says, "Please wait..."
It's just sitting there.

If you have the disc for the computer try running the recovery console. You should be able to revert to a restore point remove then retry the installation.

I got in touch with my IT guy from work, and after we tried a couple other things... we ended up doing exactly what you wrote above. I'll never install SP2 again.
