Whooo! What a hell of a win. 18-17 might not look like much, but it is much bigger than it seems for two reasons. 1, UVA is a terrible road team, and 2, UVA is an even worse road team at Maryland. The defense was terrific. HUGE game by Chris Long - the best D-lineman in the country.
Plus Maryland is just a huge rival. The two schools do not like each other at all, and we recruit the same territory.
Now.....the announcing. Jeezis, we finally earn our way onto national TV in prime time and the announcers spend the whole game butchering the pronunciations of our players' names. AHEM. It's Peter "La-LICK" not Peter "LAW-litch"....it's Jermaine "DYE-us" not "DEE-us"....it's Jon Copper not Jon Cooper.....and for the love of God it's "Ja-MEEL" Sewell not "Ja-MEL" or "Ja-MAHL". Please look at a media guide before you call a game....those, by the way, are in order, the backup QB, the two starting ILB's, and the starting QB, who you'd think you'd want to get right. Thank God our star player is named Chris Long.
Oh well. Rant over. Kind of a minor thing up next to being 7-1, 4-0 and ranked, which I think is the best record at this point of the season I've ever seen as a UVA fan.

Wake Forest (not as good as last year)
Miami (Maybe that will be tricky... and the emotion of the final game in the Orange Bowl could play a factor.)
VaTech (This time, UVA has home-field advantage)

Anyway, Maryland got dominated on the stat sheet. Only 233 yards gained on offense. So if MD wants to point to anything that lost them the game, their offense should be first and not the refs. They double-teamed Chris Long all game and he still walked all over them.
