ATLANTA - A vegan couple were sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for the death of their malnourished 6-week-old baby boy, who was fed a diet largely consisting of soy milk and apple juice.

Superior Court Judge L.A. McConnell imposed the mandatory sentences on Jade Sanders, 27, and Lamont Thomas, 31. Their son, Crown Shakur, weighed just 3 1/2 pounds when he died of starvation on April 25, 2004.

I'm sure their consciences are at ease thinking of all those animals they saved. :roll1:

Excuse me if I seem a little dense, but how can a baby die of malnutrition in only six weeks if it was fed soymilk and apple juice? I can see the baby not getting desirable amounts of certain vitamins and minerals, but dying? The soymilk has protein and fats while the apple juice has a good amount of vitamins. There are babies in third-world countries who don't get near that much nourishment and live a lot longer than six weeks. Something just doesn't add up...

I suspect the part that doesn't add up is the number of times the baby was actually fed, and total amount of food actually fed to the infant.

-Chef John Mountain announced he was banning vegans from his restaurant Fyre this week.

-The ban stemmed from a vegan customer leaving a one-star review at the Perth, Australia, restaurant.

-Mountain said business has been booming ever since he banned vegans.

A celebrity chef who banned vegans from his restaurant earlier this week says business has never been better.

British chef John Mountain made headlines on Monday when he announced that he was banning vegan diners from Fyre — his restaurant in Perth, Australia — for "mental health reasons."

Mountain told PerthNow that his ban stemmed from a negative Facebook review left by a vegan customer, which spurred other people to leave one-star reviews on his restaurant's page.

"We started getting all these negative reviews without any actual comment, which really hurts the business," he said.

News of Mountain's vegan ban soon spread, and the chef said it's led to incredible business. Mountain told The Project that bookings at Fyre have "gone through the roof."

'Things have worked out ridiculously well," he said on Wednesday. "I usually do half a dozen people in this beautiful restaurant. I have 35 booked for dinner tonight."

The Facebook page from Fyre has since been flooded with reviews applauding the vegan ban. Mountain said he's also received "overwhelming support" from fellow chefs.

"I guarantee you, 99% of chefs across the world fricking hate vegans," he told The Project. "You can never please them. We've always hated vegans, all chefs have."

Man named Sexy Vegan accused of sexually assaulting his dog

Sexy Vegan may have taken his love for animals a little too literally.

A California man who legally changed his name to Sexy Vegan has been charged with sexually assaulting his dog, according to authorities.

Vegan — born Hansel Marion DeBartolo III — was busted in West Hollywood on Thursday over a video he posted on social media showing “inappropriate behavior” with a pit bull, prosecutors said.

“Detectives found a video on social media of the suspect performing an act of bestiality,” Shirley Miller of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Office told KHTS.

Two dogs were removed from Vegan’s home by animal-control officials, Miller said.

The 37-year-old man, who has his new name tattooed on his face, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of sexual assault on an animal and posting obscene matter, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Vegan pleaded not guilty Friday. He faces up to one year in county jail if convicted, the attorney’s office said, stressing the case was case was still being investigated.

He is due back in court in Santa Clarita on Oct. 10.

Vegan previously made headlines with his name change, appearing on the “Dr. Phil” TV show in the episode, “My Brother Changed His Name to ‘Sexy Vegan,’ Wears Speedos in Public and is Spending My Mom’s $11 Million Inheritance!”

Vegan seemed proud that he got kicked off the show for using excessive profanity — with the host apologizing for his “childish and immature behavior.”

“Don’t let the door hit you in the ass,” Dr. Phil said as he booted out the moonwalking guest.

Vegan later insisted he was running for president, although paperwork has never been filed, according to the KHTS report.
