vBook: Texas Tech vs Texas

with at least one of those td's in trash time.

they even tried to score again at the end of the half, driving down the field calling timeouts, then Robinson called our defense over to the sideline and griped the entire defense out, to which they responded by stopping them on 1st and 10 from our twelve yard line, and forcing a turnover on downs.

It was great stuff, I had not seen a UT coach get that fired up in years, and we were winning by 30 at the time.

Yeah GR was fun to watch, personally i think that Chizik is a better coordinator but i wish we could keep Robinson as a motivational coach or something. I think my favorite GR story was him yelling at the OU fans. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

As I felt before the OU game, what has Texas Tech done to deserve any credit this year? Although it might seem a little different b/c Tech is undefeated, they have played three crap ass teams,

No kidding. Everyone needs to stop praising Leach until he's willing to actually go out and schedule some legitimate non-conference games. I think it's UT in a laugher: Texas 51, Texas Tech 24. Even then, TT scores a few TDs in the second half when the game's already been decided.

Im taking Tech to cover the spread, but I know they should not win this game. As JWins said earlier in the thread, Texas is much more of a legit shot at beating USC than either of VaTech or Georgia (personally, I think VaTech may take an "L" this thursday in Maryland). Texas might play it close, but they are too deep to slip up and make mistakes, they will allow Tech to fumble the game away.

Texas was in the top 5 when they lost in Lubbock in 02. The only loss up until that point was to OU. We had crawled back into the top 5 at #4 I believe.

Texas was indeed #4 just before the 2002 loss at Lubbock. You were actually tied at #4 in the AP with the Land Thieves that week, who had dropped from #1 after their shocking loss at aTm's coming out party for Reggie McNeal.

The 'Horns dropped to #11, but finished the 2002 season #6 after downing LSU in the Cotton Bowl.

Tech certainly has the ability to hang with us. Joel Filani and Jarrett Hicks are studly WRs - they will make plays and test our DBs.

Hodges is more mobile than previous Tech QBs, but seems more inconsistent. We should be able to keep him out of a rhythm.

Dwayne Slay is a big-hitter at safety. Slay v. Young (Selvin, not Vince) worries me...but we probably look to beat him with play-action.

It's weak, but Leach is doing the right thing. Tech's been playing a lot of non-conference games on the road. They are looking for opponents to commit to a home & home series, which at this point they damn well deserve. There's a lot of teams in D1 that don't want to worry about being lit up for 70 points, and don't want to travel to Lubbuck.
