I have a question about these even odds bets. Why is it even worth it to put money down if you don't get anything back except what you got? It's a winless situation. Or am I missing something?

you get your cash back plus winnings in the same amount. if you bet a grand, it takes the grand now but gives you a total of two grand when you win the bet.
