vBet on which Hurricane will be the most destructive in '06?

It might be better, if there is to be a vbet, to have it be the most powerful hurricane. There is a scale that is used for classification as a function of wind speed. Or one could simply measure "power" by lowest barometric pressure as the most powerful one. This isn't nearly as subjective as most destructive.

As for which one would be the most powerful/destructive whatever, and the comments that later ones in the alphabet may be a better choice, how soon we forget Hurricane Andrew.

Guys seeing as how a lot of people could be offended by this thread and that it could result in a lot of bad publicity for BP if you do focus on damages or loss of life, why not focus on barometric pressure or recorded windspeed or something unrelated to human suffering?

And Tibs, there are a lot of members and mods who find this thread distasteful. There is no need to call people names simply because they disagree with you.

I avoided this thread till I saw others agreed with me.

This thread is extremely poor taste.

I'm just the bookie, I'll set up darn near any vbet you want. If you don't want to participate in the bet, then dont.

Some people think the "Death Pool" on Howard Stern, for example, is funny... some dont. I don't see how this is any worse than that... I don't find it funny, but it's a legitimate bet... Hurricanes do damage, and people can wager on it if they want.

Hell, they can even joke about it if they want..

If somebody is offended by a harmless internet thread which it not even close to tasteless, they deserve whatever name I give them.

It's obvious that part of their reaction is due to the person who started the thread anyway. Diehard once started a thread about betting when Pat Summerall would die. People laughed. Of course that was when he was liked. I'm sure if he returned to start that thread now, people would get offended. :roll1:
