  • Just made reservations for Nov 16-20 of next year at the Varsity Inn so I can attend The Game. All the bigger hotels nears the stadium (Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, etc.) are all booked, so I went with the Varsity Inn. It looks to be real close to the stadium and to be a decent place to crash at night. Anyone ever stayed there before? Feedback?

it's a quick walk to the stadium and well worth the price. our team stayed there a few years ago during the playoffs...the accomodations are adequate, but let's face it...you are paying to be within walking distance of the Shoe. really smart move getting those reservations taken care of now.

Excellent. Just as long as the place ain't a dive and it's not in a "high-risk" part of town (like the place I had reservations at last year before cancelling them), then I'm happy.

I had a couple pitchers of beer and some burgers with HawaiianBuckeye last night and he reminded me to get reservations for The Game ASAP, and he was right as the Varsity Inn was the only notable place near The Shoe that was available.

By the way, the guy who took my resevrations over the phone (cheapier than on-line it turned out) was named Maurice...you would not believe the temptation...

I think the Varsity Inn used to be an Amerihost or one of those similar chains...it is a very good location (B HOF, campus, liquor store nearby :))

I haven't stayed there, but I have a friend whose family stays there when they come to town, and they seem to think it is alright

it was a Cross Country Inn. We stay there every trip to Columbus but haven't been there since 2003. Last time I was there it wasn't bad... like others have said it's next to the HOF Cafe... great place to hang out at Friday night before the game.
