Custom plates are one of the few things lamer than bumper stickers and "Baby on board" signs (the only exception would be a custom plate on a classic car noting the year and make...and that's still pretty lame).

I'm proud of my little town.

It is not unusual to see vanity plates from all over the country that say;
"Taos" or a variant there of. "GO2TAOS" "TAOSCAR" "SKITAOS" etc.
For a small, unknown town it has it's admirers.
