An obscure reason why Buckeye fans can actually care about this game.

Ohio State's last consecutive losing seasons were in 1922-23-24. The only team that has gone longer without having 2 straight losing seasons is Tennessee (1910-11).

The Vols were 6-7 last year, and are currently 4-6, with a game at Ky to follow this one. But if Vandy wins, the Vols are guaranteed a second straight losing season, and the rather obscure record comes over to the Buckeyes.

Tough loss for Vandy. They were up 21-14 with less than 5 minutes to go, and Tennessee lined up for a short FG. Vandy blocked the FG, but somebody beside the guy that got the block ran into the kicker, so Tennessee got a first down inside the 10 and then got a game-tying FG. The block was by the interior line, and the outside guy fell into the kicker after diving for the ball and not getting it.

Dumb to try so hard to block it, when you're about to get the ball with a 4-point lead that late in the game.

Vandy threw a pick-6 in OT, when the ref blew the whistle and marked the Tennessee player down. The refs then said that there was no whistle, and when the replay showed that the defender wasn't down, the pick-six ended the game in OT. To be fair, regardless of the whistle, nobody from Vandy was going to catch the guy.
