College football notebook: Virginia Tech shakes off difficult loss

Friday, November 2, 2007 3:28 AM

Associated Press

Virginia Tech bounced back just fine from its shocking collapse against Boston College.
One week after the No. 11 Hokies squandered a 10-point lead to BC in the final minutes, Sean Glennon threw two long touchdown passes and ran for a score to lead Virginia Tech to a 27-3 win over Georgia Tech last night in Atlanta.
Glennon threw for 296 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown pass to Justin Harper and a 71-yarder to Josh Morgan.
The Hokies (7-2, 4-1) moved into a first-place tie with rival Virginia in the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division. The teams meet in the final game of the regular season. Georgia Tech (5-4, 2-4) saw its slim hopes of making a second straight trip to the ACC championship game go down the drain.

The jokies appearently needed some Mark Richt style psycology because they felt so bad about last week. So they 'lost' 4 jerseys and somehow 'forgot' to bring extra jerseys. God I wish Duke or UNC had steped up three years ago and kept those thugs out of the acc.

Hopefully this will be the last straw for Gailey and his incompetent ass will be gone.
They sure have their shit together down there in Blacksburg.

If Choice was healthy, I'd say Jackets by 10.

Hell Dwyer kicks ass and the jokies have nothing on O. Frigging Regie Ball led us to a win at Lane last year (and according to ESPN that's a tough place to play). GT wins this game.

GT should get Ball back. At least he could connect with his receivers. Nice to see VT get angry after that loss last week. I think they'll be ready for BC in the championship game.

Funny stuff with the jerseys. I like that the VT equipment guys blacked out the "Yellow Jackets" and Russell Athletics logo on the GT jerseys, and drew a little red swoosh on the jersey (GT is signed with Russell, VT is with Nike), though they had the Nike swoosh backwards.

Pretty easy to connect with your receivers when you can throw a jump ball to Calvin Johnson.

Ball was a terrible QB. Besides wildly inconsistent passing, he also would inexplicably stop looking for Calvin at times, like in the 2nd half against ND after it was established they couldn't stop him in double coverage.

 that's too funny. i didn't notice it. i must have been distracted by the announcers' little history lesson on the origins of gtech's fight song.

would've been even funnier if it had happened to oregon!
