USC whining about losing players....

For all the latecomers talking about the "actual quote" remember that what you are referencing is not the original quote from the article that prompted the original post. The article was changed, the quote was reworded a bit and moved farther down within the article.

I don't think the coach was mad at the player at all. Gods sake the closet is full there at USC, I think they will be ok.

Whoa just a second Craig, there's no reason to imply that they are hiding homosexual feelings!

I talked with coach Ruel over the summer about Matua and his agent. One story Ruel told me really encapsulated what Ruel was talking about with agents.

So right after Matua signed with an agent, Matua left SC to go workout at some training facility. Matua's agent arranged for some guy to train Matua for pro day. What a nice guy.

Some time later, Matua and Ruel are talking about Matua's training. Their conversation goes something like this:

Ruel: So do you feel it was worth the cost compared to working out with Coach Carlisle (SC's S&C coach).
Matua: What do you mean? What cost?
Ruel: Your agent didn't tell you that those workouts will get billed to you after the draft?
Matua: No.

Matua could've worked out for the draft at SC for free. Instead, his agent sets Matua up with one of the agent's friends to train. The training wasn't any better (and perhaps worse) than what Matua could've done at SC for free. And, sure enough, Matua got billed by the agent's friend after the draft.
