USC vs. tOSU in Rose Bowl this year?

Obviously this is college football and anything can happen, but I don't foresee USC or tOSU losing another game. That being said, I can see the rematch being a very real possibility.

I am an ASU fan, so dreaming is what I am used to.

You guys might get a rematch after what happened on Thursday night. Do you want another shot at them at the end of the year with Pryor feeling comfortable as the starter and Beanie back?

No rematch for me. Its losts is luster anyway with USC's loss to Oregon St.
Ohio State is in a fight of its life every year to win the BIG Ten. There are many more teams that are equal to Ohio State and Michigan now. By the end of the regular season if you win the conference, you are tired and you are beat up. Then comes the 40 days to wait to play in the Big One. And by then it seems like you are playing a new season all over again. Eight years ago we were just happy enough to beat Michigan and win the Big Ten. Now that does not satisfy alot of OHio State fans anymore. BCS is the big thing now.

i'm not so sure about us. pryor is great, but he is a true freshman. i'm interested to see what happens when he is faced with some adversity. ie wiscy at night.

If he keeps playing well and getting better every week, which I'm sure he will do, then I think you guys are still the favorites in the Big 10.

If you guys aren't interested in a rematch with USC and want to see something different, then hopefully ASU can pull a rabbit out of their arse and win the Pac-10 and then play tOSU in a Rose Bowl rematch of 97'. That would be cool - to me atleast. Yes I can hear the laughter now. Ha ha.

I know - speculation. But what else do I have to do until this Saturday? ASU only plays in BCS games in my dreams.

It seems like the most logical situation. On one hand I like it because it would mean we won the Big 10 and beat Michigan, but SC has a ton of talent, scary talent, and they'd be at home again.

Yeah, but you'd have Beanie back and Boeckman would be riding the pine. Look how good Oregon State did with the run against USC. Beanie is better than any running back Oregon State has and I would imagine your o-line is better. USC might have a weakness - or maybe they just laid an egg, but any way, they are beatable. Plus, why wait until next year for revenge. I still want revenge from the 97' Rose Bowl and that was when I was 18 years old. Maybe I hold grudges too long?

During the 70s, I followed every game each week that affected whether or not tOSU had a shot at the NC. It had to be in the Rose Bowl back then, and there were more things outside of the team's control because of the bowl tie-ins, but the NC was the big goal for me as a fan way back then. That didn't start with the BCS - the BCS just made it a more direct path as long as a team ended the regular season in the top 2.

Beanie is a better back, but a bigger target too. And tOSU's OL is better than OrSU, but they didn't play like it, and you saw how they looked. OrSU played with swagger, tOSU didn't. Talent didn't matter, it was heart.

BB73 made a good point in his post. Back in the 70's If Ohio State won the BIG10 then it was an automatic for the Rose Bowl and a shot at the N/C. And also there were only 5 of 6 bowls then but i can't remember when they started letting the
2nd place team in the Big 10 go to another bowl. Now things have really changed with so many other bowls to play in.

We already have a rematch scheduled with USC next fall. I'd rather play someone different in a bowl game but our best realistic bid is the Rose and USC is the most likely opponent, at this point.

We'll see...right now I just want to see the Bucks whup Bucky's ass this Saturday.
