These focus on the university as a whole rather than football, but interesting to read when we look at the shabby state of a blue blood that in theory (CA talent and NIL $ and opportunities) can’t seem to pick up steam

Besides the Brooklyn Nets, New York teams don’t have any issue with that and they have more teams than that

I was talking about pro franchises in NY since you mentioned a bunch of pro sports franchises competing with ucla/usc as a part of an issue they are having fighting for sports fan revenue. That is also a heavily saturated sports market.
Columbia, Fordham nor nyu (doesn’t have a team anymore) have D1 programs that are shown on major networks.
The point is I am not sure USC’s issue is market saturation. Theres something else cultural about LA or their program that just makes it underperform compared to its supposed potential.

Cali is fair weathered fans. There are so many "migrants" to that state from others. It's like Miami hurricane fans but spread out. College football is almost a religion in the Midwest and the South. Until the Overlords take over, and it will be good!
That and it’s just not a football city (SF supports the 9ers, I guess being on of the top all time winning franchises helps) but LA didn’t have a football franchise for about a decade and I don’t think the two there now are doing particularly well.

Even though the Rams won a SB in recent years and have a top 5 HC, they just don’t see to be a big deal.
It seems like it’s all about the Lakers and Dodgers in LA
