Kelly should stayed at cinci...I'm sure getting hosed down with faygo gets annoying, but at least he had a chance of getting further than the Sun Bowl there...
Well I think it's the nature of every competitor to keep challenging himself but he had to realize that Notre dame has been a coaching career destroyer for 20 years now.

the only thing better than nd getting worked was the ND commercial preaching about player safety. should a coach whose brazen disregard for individual safety lead to a kid's death really be preaching the merits of player safety?

honestly, i wonder what the outcome would be if that event happened after this season. nd was all over his nuts as the 2nd coming because they managed to win a middling bowl game against a team that packed it in weeks before. this was going to be their year with 11 senior starters and teo whose going to leave for the draft. instead, they are on their way to another 5 loss season.

Notre Dame is unlikely to get a better coach than Kelly. And they're unlikely to become dominant again within the next 20-30 years.

If you think I'm wrong, look at Minnesota - they at one time absolutely dominated college football. They have six national championships, all between 1934 and 1960, including four in a seven-year period.

My domer buddy said before this game that Notre Dame "should be undefeated" and was being annoyingly cocky as hell, saying they were going to roll over SC and then beat Stanford. He is the reason for my dislike and complete disregard for anything Notre Dame.

I'm laughing at him today.

This is a large part of ND's problem. The fans believe the media fluff about their overrated recruits, and so do the players themselves. Then the players' overconfidence allows them to take opponents less seriously than they deserve, and the players consequently fail to believe that they need to prepare their asses off in order to be competitive.

It's a vicious cycle. I love it. :banger:

1. How did Sparty manage to get blown out by these clowns?

2. Two teams that "travel well" and get big TV numbers, both with 3 losses, could the Buckeyes "get lucky" and draw Notre Dame in a bowl game?

ND hasn't beaten us since 1936. Let 'em rot a little longer. I'm still holding out hope for the B1G title until it ceases to be an option.

Sounds like most ND fans I've ever known.

Convenient holding call kills an SC drive in ND territory. Side Judge Sean O'Malley threw the flag.

TD SC! :banger:

But hold on, Seamus O'Callahan is reviewing it, looking for any reason in the world to overturn it.
To help the team that is coached by a guy named Brian Kelly? Nope, no connections there...

Please, please, please let this happen...

Kelly does deserve to be questioned for not calling timeouts when USC was running the ball and the clock near midfield with 5 or 6 minutes left, and down 31-17.

USC's Galippo apologizes for claiming Irish quit

LOS ANGELES -- Southern California linebacker Chris Galippo apologized Monday for claiming Notre Dame quit in the final minutes of the 20th-ranked Trojans' victory in South Bend last weekend.

USC coach Lane Kiffin called Irish coach Brian Kelly to apologize for Galippo's comments after the 31-17 victory for the Trojans (6-1), whose dominant performance put them back in the Top 25 after a four-week absence.

Galippo is a senior who was recruited by Notre Dame out of high school. He shared his teammates' surprise when the Irish declined to use their timeouts in the fourth quarter to slow the Trojans' final drive, which ended the game by consuming nearly seven minutes on 10 consecutive runs by tailback Curtis McNeal.

"At the end there, when they didn't call those timeouts, they just quit," Galippo said after the game. "That's what Notre Dame football is about. They're not anything like USC."
Galippo apologized on his Twitter feed and in a statement from the school.

"If I offended anyone with my post game comments Saturday, I do apologize," Galippo tweeted. "I have great respect for their players and their program. It was a great game by both sides."

Kiffin spoke to Galippo about his comments, saying the linebacker was "remorseful." Kelly didn't seem terribly offended when asked about Galippo's words Sunday, saying Notre Dame might have said much the same thing after last season's victory at the Coliseum.

Yet Galippo isn't the only USC player who was surprised by Notre Dame's strategy. After the game, tailback Marc Tyler also said the Trojans wore out the Irish and "beat them down," while quarterback Matt Barkley echoed his teammates' comments on a Los Angeles radio show on Monday.

"It seemed from our sideline and our perspective that they did give up," Barkley told 710 ESPN. "It seemed uncharacteristic of Notre Dame. I wouldn't have wanted to have been on that sideline."

Cont'd ...
