In my opinion there's no such thing as "running up the score." If you don't want your opponent to score, stop him. If you can't, tough [censored]; you should have done a better job.

Wussification of American sports = criticism of "running up the score."
My only opinion of running up the score is being up by a large margin, and still having your starters in late in the fourth quarter and throwing deep passes trying to score.
If its 2nd and 3rd stringers in there I dont have a problem with it then because you practice to play the game, and that includes scoring.
By the way, what happened at the end of the game, I LOVED IT!

If you want to risk your starters in a game that's out of hand so you can score meaningless points, I could give a fuck. I say this more in support of your point than to counter. Like I said on the last page, it's not Coach of Team A's job to stop Team A from scoring.

I think it's stupid to be playing your starters when you're up 70 - 0, and I think it's wise to work in your depth to get game reps... but... if a coach wants to keep his number 1s in there to score 77, well.. I don't care. I think that's a bad plan (see CHarlie Weis), but... it's a decision. Nothing "wrong" with it just because it's "mean" to score 77.

I agree. I guess my explanation is because last year fans were accusing CPC of running up the score on Washington st. Well, 1 pass was thrown in the beginning of the 3rd qtr. and CPC shut it down, run only.
To make a long story short, cougar fans were defending SC saying that it was their teams job to stop the Trojans, no matter what the score was.
They had guys playing so deep in the depth chart, I had to look them up to see who was playing!
