USA v. Mexico friendly

What were the announcers so upset about. They were saying I hope FIFA sees that. What happened I turned my back and missed the replay.

When Landon beat the keeper, he tried to grab Donovan's ankle to trip him with his bankhand -- didn't have the reach though. The same thing Lehmann got red-carded for in the CL Final (though he was succesful in his attempt). I don't know what Wynalda really wants FIFA to do about it, though. At most, CONCACAF (spelling ??) would be the one to take action.

Game! For as much as I crack on Landon, that was a textbook move to beat the keeper and send it into the back of the net. Good job. Maybe he just needs some younger guys around him to keep the pace.

Job well done, I'm liking this new coach so far (not just for the 2 wins -- but his squad selection and tactics thus far).

I agree. In the past, they would've immediately gone to eleven men in front of the ball after the first goal and let their opponents take potshots at them the rest of the match. It seems to me that tactically, they sought to possess the ball to keep the pressure off - which I think the right move more often than not. Mexico still got plenty of chances - but that was because they had trouble keeping possession in the middle 1/3 of the field. I think that element will come with experience. I think they miss Reyna in that respect right now.

They just showed the replay on ESPN. The keeper, after he got beat, stood up and then tried to slide tackle another US player cleats up as he was running by in celebration. Totally classless and would have been up there with Zidane if he had connected.

lol at Hugo Sanchez...

from a Guadalajara newspaper

When he found out minutes earlier that a few of the U.S. players criticized him for trying to injure Johnson after the second goal via Landon Donovan from the Stars and Stripes team, Sanchez was sharp-worded with his reply, “I don’t give a s*** what they say. F*** their mothers.”

Dos-cero MF'er! USA!! 8-2-1 against Mexico since 2000, and haven't allowed a goal against them on our soil.

did they ever definately fnd out if the goal was taken away b/c of off-side or a foul?

I didn't see either, so it seemed like bullshit, but I'd like to know what the ref called.

the refs told bradley he was offsides. seemed like a questionable call to everyone though.
