Steady: With the exception of one team, the top 10 from the preseason rankings is intact. Four schools join the Super 25. No. 12 St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia) moves up eight slots.

Player of the week: WR-DB-RB Percy Harvin of No. 21 Landstown (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored five touchdowns in a 68-26 victory against Kellam (Virginia Beach). Harvin (6-1, 198 pounds) caught four passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns and rushed four times for 133 yards and two scores. In an opening-week win against Tallwood (Virginia Beach), Harvin returned an interception, punt and kick for touchdowns.

Game of the week: Saturday, Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) at Bergen Catholic (Oradell). Don Bosco, No. 4 in the East Region rankings, split two games with its league rivals last season but lost in the Non-Public Group 4 state final in December. Don Bosco jun ior QB Matt Simms is the son of CBS pro football analyst Phil Simms.

Blanked: De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) was shut out for the first time in 26 years, losing to then-No. 17 Clovis West (Fresno) 7-0 on Chris Lewis' fourth-quarter TD. The last time De La Salle didn't score was during a 1979 loss to Salesian (Richmond) 32-0. Clovis West also became the first team to defeat De La Salle in consecutive seasons since coach Bob Ladouceur took over in 1979.

Milestones: Coach Dick Nicholl of Mercer Island (Wash.) picked up his 150th victory (in 27 years) at the school with a 35-33 win against South Kitsap (Port Orchard). Nicholl is 169-102 in 30 seasons.

Extra points: RB John Shaw of No. 12 St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia) ran for 204 yards, including 74 on a fourth-quarter TD, in a 28-14 win against St. Ignatius (Cleveland). Kai Forbath kicked second-quarter field goals of 42 and 57 yards as No. 25 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) beat Birmingham (Van Nuys) 27-22. Forbath, who says he'll sign with Southern California, connected on a career best 57-yarder, missing the school record by 1 yard. WR Isaac Norman caught a 64-yard TD pass from backup QB Jake Strain with 18 seconds left as No. 23 Jenks (Okla.) beat then-No. 15 Union (Tulsa) 48-44. Union took a 44-41 lead with 34 seconds left when Kegon Beers caught a 10-yard TD pass. Strain, 5-for-8 for 119 yards and three TDs, entered the game in the third quarter when Mark Ginther was injured. Justin Wallace of Hazard (Ky.) returned four punts for TDs in an 81-12 victory against Jenkins. According to the 2005 National High School Sports Record Book, Wallace's mark is tied for second all time for a single game. The national record is six, set in 1950.

About the rankings: USA TODAY's Super 25 football rankings are compiled by Lawlor, who consults with a national network of high school sportswriters, analysts and coaches. Among the criteria considered are a school's strength of schedule, the quality of competition in its state or league and the quality of its players.
The rankings appear on Tuesdays throughout the fall. The first regular season rankings will be Sept. 13.
