USA -0.5 at Trinidad &Tobago (WC Qual, Sep. 9th 7 ET, ESPN Classic)

I agree that Spector has been MOTM the match for Team USA so far. He's stood up numerous challenges from T&T, got between the ball and goal on the multiple moves from Edwards (I believe it was), and he's the one guy at the back who has actually had an idea about how to keep possession. Otherwise this has pretty much been youth recreational soccer with the long clearances and then hoping for the best. It's just one bad performance after another for Bob Bradley's squad. They better as hell come out with a victory. Better through ball at the end from Altidore to Donovan at the end of the half there. If Spector has been MOTM, I think Altidore is the runner-up. But there are way more goats like Dempsey, Boca, Bornstein, Clark, etc. I want to see Holden dammit!

Holden for Demps would be great.

Feilhaber for Clark as well. Clark hasn't been horrible, he's just been invisible. As has Jr. We need something in the middle. Donovan is coming in and starting to do some things, but he shouldn't have to work 2/3 positions.

Chances are Robo-Bob doesn't change a thing.

Wow, great first touch and shot by Clark! He's out of my dog house, at least temporarily.

Now let's not go all bunker again like against Mexico or the Netherlands in the last Olympics. This is T&T for God's sake. I still like the subs of Holden and Feilhaber.

RICO CLARK!!!

1-0!
:stupid:

Wicked shot from about 22 out.

Bob switching the subs around. Feilhaber for Altidore. Dempsey goes up top w/ Davies. Clark's gonna stay in. Holden rests some more (probably won't play now).

Big break last night for the U.S. when Costa Rica lost to El Salvador. Now the Nats only need a tie against the Costa Ricans in the finale to qualify for South Africa. But they could make things easy on themselves with a win over Honduras. It's going to be tough though because I caught a little bit of Honduras' game with Mexico last night and they looked better than us. Their first touches were sound, they had ideas about what to do with the ball subsequently, and their passes were crisp. They were unlucky to lose the game, because Mexico's only score came on a questionably earned penalty kick. It's going to be tough enough to come away with a tie against Honduras, let alone a win, but the latter is what they have to shoot for. A tie does them effectively little good. They'd still advance with a tie over Costa Rica, and fall behind them with a loss. If Honduras wins their final game and we lose to Costa Rica, they advance over us on goal differential. Mexico easily projects to have at least one win in their final two matches. Have to go for a win.
