The head coach knows he will see a lot of familiar plays on Saturday.

Urban Meyer met with the media just days ahead of Ohio State’s Homecoming game against Rutgers.

Meyer wants recruits to commit later, not earlier a sentiment he has echoed several times. He notes that it’s hard, not just athletically but academically to try and make a fit so early on. He stressed how important honest conversations throughout the recruitment process is in making sure the fit is right for both the team and player when the time comes to sign their letter of intent.

When asked about the depth chart for the secondary, Meyer noted they need to play at least 3 corners because they play so much man coverage, but it allows for a lot of different players to get plenty of playing time. They’re able to rotate so much because there’s no drop-off in talent between players, it’s just a matter of keeping them healthy.

The head coach know he’s going to see a lot of familiar playcalling on Saturday when facing Chris Ash. He quipped, he saw the No. 2’s running a Rutgers play and thought “shit, that’s our play”.

Meyer said Chris Ash had a few head coaching offers, but when Rutgers came to the table, Meyer and him sat down to talk seriously about taking the offer.

Donte Booker is questionable for the game with an MCL injury, but he was practicing Wednesday.

Defensive Coordinator Greg Schiano was cited Wednesday for “failure to control device” according to Bill Rabinowitz. Meyer noted Schiano is “devastated” about the accident.
