The new Internet browser Internet Explorer 7, to be released by Microsoft, will not run on on the Windows 2000 operating system, despite the fact that Windows 2000 is still heavily in use. Speculation has been rife on this issue.
When IE7 was announced by Microsoft founder Bill Gates in February, one of the very few details given about the new browser was that “We're actively listening to our major Windows 2000 customers …”
Even as late as March, the implication was that IE7 would be available to Windows 2000 users. IE7, which will be released in Beta soon, will only run on the Windows XP Service Pack 2 operating system. I never paid attention if this has been posted or not
