update on the board exam

I've received a few questions regarding the Board Exam I took in March. A few on this board know I've spent most of my evenings (and every other weekend:bonk: ) during the last two years (actually a few months shy of two years) studying/taking required courses to sit for the exam.

I'm happy to report the results came back in early May, and I passed:biggrin: . (a little over half the folks that sat for the exam passed... tough to fathom considering the amount of coursework/study time just to have the "right" to sit for the stupid thing... I say stupid, because I'm not in favor of ten-hour exams... even if you know the material you are exhausted on the second day). Just an update for those interested. I now have a few letters next to my name... whoopee :tongue2: (if you didn't know, I wasn't exactly happy when my senior partner told me he expected me to get the designation... esp. when he didn't bother to get it himself... the joys of being low man on the totem pole:( ).

so this completes the GED program you've been studying for? that's great.. now you can apply for that manager position you really wanted at Chipotle's !!! :wink2: "Gbear GED" .. has flash...

When I first read this post I read Board wrong, never mind.
Congrats.

Do you get paid more or does the company get to charge more for your services? Gotta love someone that tells you to pass a test they can't.

Neither... that's the joke of it all...

In the industry it is a big deal (I know more folks that have failed it, than I know folks that have passed it... the irony is most folks don't bother to go through the hassel of having the "right" to sit for it, let alone take the exam), the problem is the general public doesn't really understand it, and assumes most folks in the business have it (which is incorrect... last stat I read, listed a conservative 600k folks in the business with under 30k actually passing the board exam)...
