Upcoming vacations? Fave destinations?

where do you guys do your vacationing? Anyone got anything coming up? My wife gets 5 weeks of vacation per year, and with three kids we try and keep easy on the traveling. This year we are venturing out to Disney World in March. We also drive down to Myrtle Beach every summer for a week and stay in the same hotel on the beach.

We also, just last night, booked a 4 night trip to Riviera Maya in Mexico. We're heading down there in April to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, with NO KIDS. Should be a good time.

We also lived in England for a few years so we have done a lot of traveling in Europe as well.

What say you? favorite places, places you want to go, vacations coming up?

going on the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer in 2 weeks, very excited about that, forget where it goes..

one of my favorite vacations was to the cayman islands, I really loved that place, we stayed there for a week, and had a blast

I usually go to Myrtle Beach every year like the rest of Ohio, but this June I'm driving out to LA with a friend. Pretty excited. Not going to do much planning.. just going to go and see what happens. I can't wait.

I'm not much of a beach person, but my wife is. We went to Maui for our honeymoon back in October. I've been to the Bahamas as well and both of those places make continental beaches look like crap, so I have little interest in going to the beach for a quick trip. However, I will most definitely be returning to Maui several times over the course of my life if there's anything I can do about it. I can't imagine a better place to be than there.

I prefer going to big cities to dine, see some artistic or historical sites, sports or concerts. I could park my car somewhere for a week, get a pass for the subway and be perfectly happy just running around looking for things to do. I love to drive and hate to fly - and while I won't let possible air travel get in the way of going someplace great, I actually look forward to the idea of driving upwards of ten hours one-way to go someplace. The road is relaxing and it's nice to be in control of your own destiny - stopping places along the way that seem interesting.

I haven't locked in to this one yet, but I'm looking at a road trip in late April. There's an Arcade Fire/The National concert in Chicago one night, then the Reds are in Milwaukee the next three nights (I'm trying to visit every MLB park). Also, if I stretch it out to a full week I could check off a few more states on my way to playing a round of golf in all fifty (started last summer, 8 of 50 so far).

I'd love to go to Europe at some point. A lot of great cities from the looks of it, much to explore.

ugh, I was bored out of my mind in OBX. Of course I was stuck with the entire family AND mom and dad AND brother and his family. All in one beach house. Won't do that again...

we loved Maui as well. A perfect blend of beach and mountain.

we went to Jamaica and loathed it. Rained every day we were there.

Heading to Hilton Head at the end of March. Parents have a timeshare there and go every year for a couple of weeks. Going by myself this time to get away from work and play some golf and drink some scotch with the old man.

Took the boy out to Wyoming last year and did Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks. Those are my kind of vacations. Beautiful scenery, hiking, fresh air.

I'll be in the OBX in early June. Went two years ago and had a great time.

I had to look up OBX to know what you meant - I was there just a few years ago and never heard that term.

My family went to China last summer for my brothers wedding. I'd go back in a heart beat if I ever got the chance and/or could afford it. The main cities we went to were Beijing, Xi'an and Datong. My sister in laws family was part of the reason that our trip was so incredible. I got the impression that they were somewhat wealthy. They had drivers (most were family friends as well) that took us everywhere. They had every day planned for us, from what sites we went to see, where we ate and where we slept. Without them it would have been a nightmare of a trip.

At my school there is a cs/it department internship/research trip that will be done at Shanghai University. Hopefully I get selected so I can make a return trip to China this summer!

let's see here...

I haven't taken a vacation in ages, but the wifey and I will probably be going either to Europe or Vegas for our 10th anniversary next year (2012).

allegedly I'll be going to Hawaii for work in September, but I'll believe it when I see it.
