Uniforms (Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, etc....)

A black jersey would be hard to pull off for OSU
Black jerseys work with colored helmets, especially teams that have too much of one color in their uniform.

The black uniform is a lot more balanced than the original.

Teams like OSU, UM, Penn State already have balanced, complimentary uniforms. Single color or black uniforms would be a sharp downgrade for each.

I actually like this .. would love to see us wear them one time, but not as a replacement.

But personally I'd love a black jersey.

I've come to the conclusion that the black jersey would never fly in Ohio. However, a gray one might be able to be snuck in with limited heart attacks.

A guy on a sports logo messageboard is doing a bunch of these as concepts. Here's ours.....commence the bitching :p

The thread is here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/index.php?showtopic=70902&st=0
OSU is on page 4

If we were to ever go "modern" in our designs, this is in the right direction, something VERY simple. Really the only differences in design is the little stripes around the chest, number outlines, and facemask color. Obviously we'd all like if they played with the colors a bit more (not so much black).

Very well done compared to some other hideous designs.

I actually like those, with some modifications. Flip the black and scarlet on the helmet and pants (i.e. back to normal) and make the black on the sleeve gray, and use the version with scarlet number with black outline-stripe, and that would look pretty good.

I'll be honest, it seems to me that the future of college uniforms is to change them every year or two only because of the amount of money that is to be made by the universities.

BTW, I love the uni above with the red numbers!

Yep it's bound to happen. It's already starting to be a recruiting tool. As long as Ohio State is tOSU, they'll likely look very classy should they get new unis. The same can't be said for BSU, Oregon, etc.

I think the big stripes need to be scarlet as opposed to grey or black on the away jersey. You can make the big stripe on the sleeve gray on the home jersey. Just balancing the colors. Black should only be used for subtle trimming (like it is now)

I wouldn't get TOO carried away. I mean we've only had very subtle changes to our jersey over 45+ years or so. The pro combat look is just a little gimmic that nike is throwing out there. I really don't have a problem with us wearing an alternate every once in awhile, as long as it doesn't keep happening against Michigan. I mean just wearing it once pretty much has the same effect, people go out and spend money to have the alternates.
