Care to elaborate on the attitude statement? Pinkle has done one of the better jobs elevating his program the last decade. There are very few elite programs like tOSU and everyone else is just trying to elevate their game and become relevant. What is wrong with that? MU is my second fav team behind tOSU and I have a lot of respect for what Pinkle has done. No reason to belittle them is there? We are very lucky to be fans of a school so rich in success and tradition like tOSU and talking down to the vast majority of other programs which are beneath us seems pointless imo.

Also, you say there are few things more annoying than a mid major with an attitude. I hope one of those things is teams like Texas with all that in state talent and huge budget who throws their weight around like they do even though they don't win as much as they should. A team with that much going for them should be in the NC hunt every year. No excuses. And Oklahoma? Don't even get me started. Worst fans in the country and major chokers in BCS games. So, compared to these 2 former heavy weights in Missouri's former conference I will root for MU any day and not just because they are a home state school. I could root for Nebraska much easier as they have virtually no instate talent and some of the classiest fans around. So, quit dogging on MU and just realize we are fans of a program in very elite company. Not many schools are like us.

• They flipped the bird to the rest of the Big XII when they thought their ticket was punched to join the Big Ten, then got all petulant and started firing off FOIA requests at Ohio State when they were left at the altar.

Where am I wrong when I call Missouri a mid-major? They are a major program with a long history in major conferences, but they have middling achievements. You even acknowledge as much. If I wanted to insult them I would have called them a minor team, like Boise State.

Especially in a year full of glorified exhibition games for Ohio State, I'm taking the year off of rooting for truth, justice, strength of schedule, conference loyalty and all that other mess that comes with college football these days. The Ohio State sanctions have been liberating for me. I'm free to root for or against whomever I want, whenever I want, and for whatever stupid reason I care to give without feeling guilty about the possible consequences for my team's championship hopes. It's going to be kinda fun. If they're your second-favorite team, good for you and good luck. They're not mine - not this week anyway.

Okay - I'm sorry - Nebraska fan here, I gotta weigh in on this post as I cannot take it any longer...this will be a longer one, so bear with me, as we here in HuskerNation have had to put up with this crap for a long, long time...

First off, Gary Pinkel (not Pinkle) was on his way straight out the damn door until he finally started using Brad Smith the way that the majority of Missory fans thought he should be used. Had he not come up with a couple of 10 and 11 win seasons, he'd be back coaching in the MAC.

Second - when have you ever heard players from tOSU saying stupid stuff PRIOR to playing a team they haven't played yet, in a conference that has won 6 big ones?!? Did you hear the Huskers come into the conference last year saying how they were going to dominate the B1G?!? No - because champions have more sense than that.

Next, the 'mid major with an attitude' comment. Yes, you're considered a mid major because you have WON NOTHING MAJOR. You see, what has happened here is what I like to call the Steve Pederson paradox. Follow me on this one, now....

Petey comes to Nebraska - fires Frank Solich after winning nine games that season. Doesn't even take the time to interview the guy who is the head coach NOW.

He scours the pro ranks and waits for Dave Wannystandt, who stands him up......so Petey settles for Bill 'we have to be the dumbest team in America' Callahan, who breaks an almost 35 year tradition of bowl game appearances, winning seasons, and so forth.

During this time, Pinkel gets fortunate by picking up Chase 'Booger' Daniel, who's run the same kind of offense in high school......Missory beats the Huskers a few times, gets the big head.....still doesn't win ANYTHING of relevance (championships, etc, etc).

Petey gets fired, the Big Red gets rescued by one of the guys who helped build the program (who hired the guy we wanted anyways, and it helps that the guy who we wanted was a safety and team captain at some 'small' college in Columbus, Ohio )

The new/old AD/coach sees that TexPN is playing the system and saying "Up yours" to the tradition of college football by throwing money at the situation, and along with Jim Delaney, orchestrates a move to the B1G. Missory thinks their ticket is punched (based on what, I have no idea), finds out that they never had a ticket to the ball, and kicks and screams until the SEC decides they want to continue to pad their stats and make a claim for MNC rights - so they let Missory in.


You see, it's easy to talk crap when you are still just a little brother getting slapped around a time or two...(BTW - Roy Helu just scored again :tongue2:). But it's different when you get into the REAL WORLD.

When I was in the service, I decided to be 'Billy Bad Ass' and tell guys who had been in my first duty unit for years that I 'wasn't the mofo to be messing around with,' and, 'if you want some, come get some.' I bout got my ass kicked, and learned a valuable lesson: If you want to be recognized, DO SOMETHING....if you want your ass kicked, DO SOMETHING STUPID.

Now to Texas - PUHLEEEZE don't mention those shaft artists. Most fans look at them as the main reason why the Big 12 Conference almost folded up, those greedy, oil well sniffin bastards. One of the only guys who saw what was going to be coming was the guy who A) left at the top of his game B)came back and put us back ON the map and C)got us OUT of the Big TEX conference.

Your dig on OU, btw....funny. Here's a team that has 43 conference titles, a bunch of National Championships, 11 Heismans, numerous hall of famers, and is always playing for all the marbles at some time during a season. They've actually PLAYED in BCS bowl games before...has Missory? OU - they've always had, and probably always will have game.
