UFC 71: Chuck Liddell vs. Quinton Jackson

that he didn't really want to fight him in the first place.
I personally thought it was all for show and never thought it would happen anyway...I don't think Chuck is afraid of Wandy and would beat him, but if I was Chuck, I would've been rolling when he said, "I want to fuck chuck"...I'd still love to see it and I think it would be a great fight. In any case, since Wandy has been ktfo in his last two fights, Dana is probably thinking that Silva can't tie Chuck's shoes, which is clearly not the case...he probably still thinks that Wandy doesn't deserve a chance because of the ass kicking he recieved from Belfort, and I realize that Wandy was very young and inexperienced at the time, especially in the cage.

Yeah, Chuck typically wants to puss out of fights and routinely ducks the top contenders. :roll1:
sorry bro you are out of the loop on this one.....Dana didn't want a PRIDE guy to fight/possibly beat Chuck at a time when UFC was still battling w/ PRIDE for MMA bragging rights. Dana wanted to call it off (Silva losing was a perfect opportunity) and Chuck didn't oppose it. I would say Dana pussed out the most but Chuck didn't ask him to keep the fight on.

Sorry, I had to throw the bullshit flag on you, once again. :slappy:
and once again wrong..:wink2: Check the MMA fight thread on here, not sure where at probably in the first 10 pages it was discussed. Dana didn't want Chuck to fight a guy that tough that was a virtual unknown in this country from another organization. Or check out Sherdog.com.....

Maybe I am wrong here too, but didn't Silva get absolutely wrecked by Cro Cop in the September before that fight that was scheduled for November?

Silva did get knocked by one of three best heavyweights in the world.

It has been rumored forever that either Chuck, or more likely, Dana, did not want for this fight to happen. Nothing good really comes out of hit for him. On one hand, if Chuck wins, most American fans will not comprehend how big of a win this was because it was not Tito or Randy. If Chuck loses, he lost to a fighter form another organization that many people have not even heard of. And thirdly, and possibly the most important factor, is it exposes more Americans to another, (and at the time better) organization.

Chuck is a very good fighter, but has been fed some pretty easy fights for a title holder. (No disrespect to Tito or Babalu, just the truth) He matches up very well with Randy and this can somewhat explain his success against him.

Quinton has a very good chance of winning this. He already did out strike Chuck in their first meeting, regardless of what excuses Chuck had. But, Quinton is getting older and could be another fighter that Chuck will beat, although the fighter was no where near his prime. The Iceman is disgusting, but I don't think he can beat the likes of Silva, Shogun, or Arona. Not to mention his talk of wanting to face CroCop or Fedor is just downright stupid.

Granted I don't follow Pride as much as the UFC, so I don't have the knowledge of the fighters like you guys do to that extent, but I still have a hard time believing Chuck would not want to fight anyone. Dana, I don't know. He is a business man, and I can see him losing interest in Silva after he got pummeled by Cro Cop. Kinda kills the hype a little and I could see him looking at the rematch with Tito as being a sexier Pay Per View.

Now I have seen plenty of the highlights of fights by Cro Cop, but in his fight against Gonzaga, he didn't look like shit. He clearly did not look prepared to fight UFC rules. Gonzaga took him down and punished him with punches and elbows and used the cage to his advantage. Something Cro Cop was not used to. Then he just knocked him the fuck out in one of the most devastating knock outs I have ever seen in the UFC. I thought Cro Cop was dead. So you can see where I have my doubts about Pride fighters coming to the UFC and dominating like so many Pro-Pride fans think they will.

The Pride vs. UFC thing gets a little ridiculous sometimes. The main argument was that PRIDE's heavyweight was better than UFC's at the time. This was true. Fedor, CroCop, Nogueira, Barnett, Hunt, and Fujita vs. Sylvia, Monson, AA and Werdum is a no brainer. Regarding Chuck, he is a great fighter, but has not fought anywhere near the competition that Silva has.

If this year has shown anything, it shows that anything is possible, so who knows?

Now that they two are merged into one company, maybe the BS politics can be put aside so we can see these top fighters go at it. Then we can see who the best truly are.

Fedor is pretty much the best at this point, but who knows how long it will be before he ever steps foot in the octagon as long as he and Dana continue their chess match over contract negotiations.

I would love to see how Fedor stacks up against UFC's best. I don't think their are any HW's that can match up, but a Fedor/Liddell match would be big time. Barnett is the one heavy I would like to see Fedor against.

Fedor would destroy Chuck. Barnett has the best chance to beat Fedor IMO. The only other person I think that has a decent chance is CroCop.

I completely agree that Fedor would probably dismantle Chuck, I was more referring to the hype the fight would get. The first Fedor/Cro Cop match was great, but CC gave everything he had and still came out on the losing end.
