Chris Leben agrees to replace injured Wanderlei Silva in UFC 116 co-main event

Fresh off a dominant win at The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale, Chris Leben (20-6 MMA, 10-5 UFC) has agreed to replace injured Wanderlei Silva (33-10-1 MMA, 3-5 UFC) and fight Yoshihiro Akiyama (13-1-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in the co-headliner of next week's UFC 116 event.

A source close to the event told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) Leben has agreed to the bout and is expected to sign shortly.

Leben scored a second-round TKO of Aaron Simpson on Saturday, and if signed, his fight with Akiyama will take place after a mere 12-day layoff.

Thanks, MD. I've placed bad odds on both Leben and his opponent for now. I'll update those once actual odds are posted for the revised match.

Leben's fight was the fight of the night for me. I almost wish it would have went to decision because there was no way it could have been anything but a draw,IMO.
I wish Carwin would have puled it out. Was just like all his other fights gets on the guy in the first, but Brock pulled through and I knew it was over in the 2nd. Herb Dean would have called the fight when BL curled up and was not "defending himself intelligently." So he got lucky on the referee draw.
Overall, well worth the 3 bucks per person collected to off set the cost of the P-P-V.

Leben is a badass... Takes care of business a week and a half ago, and puts on a show tonight. Amazing!
