I didn't think it was boring. Evans dominated the fight. He had a gameplan and stuck to it. Doing what he did against Silva was a great task. To me it was like watching Big Ten football. There was a lot of defense and running the ball, but one team was just able to execute their gameplan and got up 17-7 late in the game and then played Tresselball. I liked the execution, but I also like Evans, so maybe I was biased in the excitement category.
The interesting thing was, Silva kept egging Evans on in the 3rd round, which he had to. He had to know he had already lost the fight and the only way he could win was a KO. Evans did a good job not playing into this, but he did get a little lazy and Silva pounced and landed a really good shot. It really fucked up Evans and he started whaling on him. Evans was in another world for a good 15 seconds and Silva had him. But Silva fucking just stopped punching and then did this cocky dance and then tried to egg Evans on to like punch back, letting his guard down...and all this did was give Evans time to get his senses back, regroup, and survive the round. It didn't look like Silva was gassed, it looked like he was being a cocky idiot. I lost a lot of respect for Silva right there.
I blame Silva for any lack of excitement there, because if he didn't do that cocky shit, he had Evans knocked out, and that would have been exciting as hell.
Lauzon v. Stout was the most exciting fight of the night in my opinion. Lauzon had an awesome armbar on Stout, and I thought Stout was going to tap out, and somehow he rolled out of it, and was able to wear Lauzon down and win every round.
And Daley/Hazelett was quick, but an awesome knockout. Hazelett is one of the most fun guys to watch in UFC, I love his submissions. But damn, Daley just fucked him up good with one punch. It was sick. I want to see Daley fight GSP now. It'd be a lot more exciting than GSP/Hardy. UFC 111 will still be great though, especially if Evans/Jackson can happen on that card, which I've heard might happen.
