U.S. Men's National Soccer (Official Thread)

Understandable no posts here tonight

Klinsmann gets his first win against Honduras. Dempsey with a beautiful left foot strike the winning goal.

I liked what I saw tonight, good offensive pressure. Really should have had a few more goals, but had some awful misses by Shea and Onyewu. Defense was alright, gave up some chances and Tim Howard was the man he was making some great saves. Chandler had another good performance at the LB position, and Danny Williams had a solid outing; I'll take the German-Americans all day. I liked seeing Bradley in there at the end as well, he hasn't had many chances under Klinsmann. The team missed Donovan, but it wasn't a huge piece, the Yanks still had pressure. Shea is the man but he had to finish the pass from Jozy, lost his footing and it was bad. It was also good to see Onyewu get some time again. All in all, it was a good performance by the USMNT. I'm glad Klinsmann got his first when because it feels a little pressure was lifted. It's still about improving the squad and finding the players for WC qualifying.

Game on... USA v. Ecuador.

ESPN's feed looks like ass.

Univision's camera men suck.

This is like me playing FIFA 12, solid to good movement through the midfield then hesitation and lack of finishing on the end of it.

I'm glad to see Guchi playing so well in the back, I really like Chandler at the LB and Shea at LM, but Cherundolo is old. We need a RB for the future.

The defense was the positive so far even with Cherundolo and Spector's lapses, the midfielders did well to recover and the back did well to communicate. The attack looked good early, but couldn't finish and has sputtered out.

As the commentators pointed out, the work rate off the ball in the attack has all but died with the substitutions. Altidore, Shea and Edu all played well. There was no Donovan tonight and at this point and Dempsey can't do it by himself.

That's what I think Shea does so well is move off the ball. I wish this team didn't rely so heavily on Donovan, but alas the statistics show that he's an offensive lynchpin for the USMNT. I liked how they had in mind to shoot early and often. They seemed to go away from that as time passed and by the second half we saw nothing materialize.
