Tyvis Powell claimed on waivers by the Browns

The second year player out of Ohio State is headed back to his hometown.
The Seattle Seahawks decided to waive undrafted free agent Tyvis Powell just ahead of the postseason, but his time without a team was shortlived. The Cleveland Browns announced they have decided to claim the Bedford native off waivers.
The 2016 NFL Draft class will go down in the record books, but one former Ohio State fan-favorite sat patiently as round-after-round went by without hearing his name. Never one to be caught up in negativity, safety Tyvis Powell held his head high and quickly juggled calls from teams around the league.
Powell eventually decided to sign with the Seattle Seahawks and join the Legion of Boom. While he didn’t see much playing time on defense in 2016, the Buckeye did get consistent snaps on special teams. He was on the active roster all season, despite only suiting up for eight games, and recorded three special team tackles in that time.
A favorite among Buckeye fans will now head back to his home state in hopes of holding down a spot on the Browns’ final 53-man roster. September is many months away, and Powell will first have to survive OTAs and mini-camps before even thinking about a final roster spot.
