2026 TX RB Legend Bey (Tennessee Signee, For now)

Someone’s giving the kid good advice. Mature comment.
Such a contrast with another recruitment we’re all watching.

If this kid makes it to 43210, it seems to be his sincere wish and I hope he’s rewarded for it. To actively work the way he has to try to get to tOSU — clearly against the wishes of his mom — his desire to be a Buckeye is on another level.

If all true, I hope he makes it here. That’s the kind of desire to be a Buckeye I hope for everyone on that team. Candidly, it’s difficult for me to fathom someone who didn’t grow up in the heart of it all to understand. That’s significant and something that, I would guess, would be not taken for granted.

Whatever happens here, I hope for his best. I can’t imagine being in his cleats right now.

to say recruiting is cutthroat would be a gross understatement, but what Tennessee done here is unreal.

No parent should ever want their son to go anywhere Huepel is involved with

straight up POS
It seems to me Tennessee did what SEC schools have been doing for decades by dropping bags on family members in addition to players. It seems clear the mother received something of value from Tennessee to deliver her son there. What is abnormal in this situation is the internal strife within the family which makes that illegal extra benefit arrangement so obvious.

Yeah, I don't remember the specifics but years ago at an all-star game a kid announced for either LSU or Bama and the mom was visibly upset because she wanted him to pick the other school. I don't remember how it turned out, but parents strong arming their kid into going to the school they want is nothing new. Not saying that's what happened here because as of now it's an unverified rumor, but I won't immediately dismiss it as "cope" either.
In his autobiography "They Call Me the Assassin" Jack Tatum wrote about wanting to go to Syracuse or something but his mom was so impressed by Woody Hayes she told him he was going to Ohio State.

Also, Chris Speilman's famous story about telling his father he was going to dUMb and his father telling him to go back upstairs and come down when he made the right decision.

So I guess it works both ways.

It’s slightly different when the reason is a bag of money. I don’t know if the money makes it better or worse but it does change things.

True but neither went so far as to sign for the other school

It was probably just a lot less cash or a car or something
All relative but this isn’t an economics thread. Back to Bey. I hate it for the kid and wish/hope the best for him and he gets supported by wherever he ends up. This sounds likes it could end badly without emotional support from wherever he ends up
