2027 TX DL Jalen Brewster (Texas Tech Verbal)

Per 11W

5* DT Jalen Brewster visited today. Before you say yeah right we have no chance, fun fact, his dad is from Cincinnati Wyoming HS and played at Ball State. Hopefully he still has a lot of family in Ohio who can help us out!

In Interview with Spiegelman, 5* DT Jalen Brewster says Oregon is in the lead. They’ve been recruiting him very hard for a long time and he’s visited there 3x. Also says A&M and OU recruiting him extremely hard and reaching out daily. TX and OSU also rounding out his Top5. He visited OSU for camp in June.
Man I really wish we were putting on the full-court press and making him feel like a priority.

Don’t think we are rounding out his top 5. He spoke very highly of LJ and said we could be a perfect fit. He loved his first visits to Columbus. I wouldn’t be surprised if we are in the top 3 at all.

He didn’t list a Top5 in order. Just that Oregon was in the lead. For us, noted he meshed well with the coaching staff and state of the set technology.

5* DT Jalen Brewster tells Fawcett that OSU is currently in his Top4 along with Oregon, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech.

My guess is that we’re currently 4th on that list. No visit set yet, but he’s got his November calendar open so maybe we can get him up for the PSU game. My hopes aren’t super high because I believe we’re going to put our $ towards what Pantoni calls “1st rd pick tier” at Edge, CB, and DGG next cycle. We’ve taken 6 DTs the last two classes so not sure if we’d be willing to match Oregon and TT here.

Garrick Hodge posted on Bucknuts that Ohio State believes they have a real shot to land Jalen Brewster on Saturday.
Brewster is a 6’3 310 pound DT that runs a hand timed 4.7 in the 40. Kid is an absolute monster.

Also, Jalen Brewster’s dad is from Cincinnati, so he has ties to the state of Ohio. Dad is very involved in the recruiting process and was a player himself, got drafted in the 3rd round out of Ball State. So hopefully he values development more than ridiculous money.

Birm said according to his sources, Ohio State is pushing the NIL envelope more aggressively with Brewster, than they have with any other recruit in the NIL era outside of Jeremiah Smith.
He said Ohio State is well aware of the type of player Brewster is and what it will take to land him (7 figures), as they see him as a day one contributor with elite potential.

But he said that still may not matter, because there’s always a team willing to go further with NIL and Texas Tech is currently being uber aggressive with NIL. We just watched this unfold with Luke Wafle.

Obviously you’d love to have it, but do you really want his commitment this early?

A player of his caliber is going to have astronomical offers and the first one he accepts will look like pocket change by the time his signing day rolls around.
if he commits to Texas Tech(Like expected), there’s very few programs In the country that will be able to continuously match their offers. They are literally trying to buy a championship, problem is they don’t have the coaching and I doubt they can continually do this and see real success. Their ceiling will be dominating the Big 12

I’d agree with you if this was a California kid and a California school. But it’s Texas. Longhorn and Aggie boosters aren’t gonna let them dominate in state NIL.

Quietly, SMU has a say there too.

Texas Tech has a billionaire alum who solely wants to pump money into the school. Something none of those schools have. This trust fund baby has no goal in life but to make TTU relevant

I don't know if he comes from money, but he's a former Olineman from the Leach era who made his money in oil and gas
My bad, maybe he doesnt come from money, but he has a ton of it! And he's willing to spend as much as he can to make TTU a contender. And there are only a few schools that can lay claim to having someone like that.
